Before we dwell into debate whether Tarot reading is science or Pseudoscience, it is necessary to know brief history of Tarot Cards.
Tarot cards originated in Italy towards the end of medieval age in the year 1430. The Tarot Cards then were added as 5th set of 21 cards to the existing 4 suit of cards, and were known as "Trionfi" meaning "Triumph" and an odd card "il mato" meaning "the fool".
The transition of Tarot Card to Fortune Telling Cards originated in France sometime may be in 1780 or so and since then it has become an OCCULT Practice.
So much for the brief history, and now the real question -- Whether Tarot Card reading is Science or Pseudoscience?
As I had mentioned in my last blog, in nature evrything is organised and nothing is random; so also, in Tarot Cards and Tarot Card reading nothing is random or arbitrary, nothing is left to chance or guess.
Tarot Decks are divided into 2 Major Groups, Major Arcana, having 22 cards, and 4 suits of 56 Cards called Minor Arcana.
Each of these cards has different pictures symbolising different meaning. It is not only the meaning which these pictures or symbol has, but it is their position in the spread they happen to be attributes it it's interpretation and meaning.
It is interesting to note that though each card in deck has its own basic independent significance and basic independent meaning, but none of the cards in deck are independent, and as such they are dependent on the other cards, in the sense when seeker query, which card happens to be drawn in what sequence, cards adjacent in spread, how it is drawn in the sense it's straight or inverted.
So Tarot Card id not just meaning of picture on Tarot Card but it is more complicated and depends on spreads used in the course of Tarot Reading.
Spread is one of the most important aspect of Tarot Reading and Prediction is Tarot Spread.
Spread of Tarot Cards, it's arrangement, creates a sort of cosmic magnet, which attracts cosmic rays affecting seeker at that particular moment, which is received by the predictor to understand effect of spread, cards, their position, their lay and connection with the seeker.
It can thus be seen that nothing is random and it's all organised, organisation that happens with the help of cosmic energy when a seeker puts query.
It is interesting to note that if the same seeker is to ask the same question again at different time, neither will the spread be the same, now will the sequence be the same not will be the position and arrangement. Is this not natural? With change in time cosmic position changes so does cosmic rays and thus so will be the spread and prediction.
Compare it with nature, every day sunrises and sets, often at same time, do we or anyone or anything acts in the same manner as they had on the previous day or a day before?
It's a long and may be never ending debate; my intentions here is not to advocate one or the other side, and it is rather to give just a brief idea and leave it to anyone individual to decide for himself as to :
Whether Tarot Cards is a Science or Pseudoscience?
I would like to end this blog by saying
To a Believer -- it's a Science
To a Critic -- it's a Pseudoscience
To a non Believer -- guess it for yourself
